Woman found fatally stabbed in Whitehall

A woman was stabbed to death Wednesday in Whitehall, authorities said.

The victim is Shana Maxwell, 37, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police Chief Jason Gagorik said officers responded to a call for a suspicious death at about 6:40 p.m. to an apartment building in the 1600 block of Skyline Drive.

First responders found Maxwell with an apparent stab wound, county police said in a statement. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Allegheny County Homicide Unit is investigating.
