Woman hospitalized after being mauled by dogs in Pittsburgh

A woman was hospitalized after being mauled by dogs in Pittsburgh on Saturday morning.

Pittsburgh Police, EMS and Animal Care and Control responded to a report of a dog attack on the 1000 block of Blackadore Street in the Homewood North neighborhood around 9:10 a.m.

Police officers found a woman who suffered serious wounds to her head and face after being attacked by two dogs.

Medics transported the woman to a hospital in critical condition.

According to the initial investigation, the victim is related to the dogs’ owner and was trying to let the dogs out of the home when she was attacked.

The dogs were secure inside the house. Animal Care and Control responded to take possession of the animals.

The Police’s Violent Crime Unit is investigating.
