Woman killed, man injured in Homewood shooting

A woman was killed and a man injured in a shooting in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood Wednesday night, according to the city Department of Public Safety.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office identified the woman as Janyel Crawford, 31, of North Versailles.

The city’s ShotSpotter gunshot detection system reported gunfire near the intersection of Frankstown Avenue and Collier Street around 11:30 p.m.

First responders found the two victims, both of whom were taken to the hospital.

The woman had multiple gunshot wounds and died at the hospital around 1 a.m.

The man was shot in the foot and is in stable condition.

Police are investigating. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call detectives at 412-323-7161.
