First responders recovered the body of a woman from the Monongahela River on Tuesday evening near Pittsburgh’s South Side Marina.
According to a spokesperson for Pittsburgh Public Safety, city police, firefighters, medics and River Rescue crews were dispatched to the 2600 block of South Water Street at about 6:30 p.m. in response to reports of a body spotted near the shoreline.
The woman, who was in her mid-20s, didn’t appear to have been in the water for very long, the spokesperson said.
While there were no overt signs of foul play, the cause of death and the woman’s identity are yet to be determined by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.
