A 64-year-old man was found dead inside a home damaged by fire Saturday morning in Pittsburgh, according to police.
The fire was reported around 5 a.m. on Parviss Street in Brighton Heights. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames billowing from the upper floors and roof of the house, police said.
After learning the occupant may have still been inside, firefighters searched each room until they found the man dead in a bedroom on the second floor. Firefighters remained on scene for awhile, even after the blaze was deemed under control around 7 a.m., to extinguish hot spots on the upper level.
Investigators determined the blaze started in the second-floor bedroom. It was ruled accidental, police said.
The man’s identity had not been released by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.
