Allegheny County's new daily covid-19 cases trend upward to 239
Allegheny County on Friday reported 239 new cases of covid-19, the highest daily total since July.
The county’s 7-day average has been climbing for two weeks and sits at 174 cases.
The Allegheny County Health Department said 146 cases were confirmed from 1,668 new PCR tests and 93 cases are listed as probable. Of the probable cases, 87 are from positive antigen tests.
The positive tests are from Oct. 28-Nov. 5. The daily PCR test positivity rate — the percentage of PCR tests that come back positive — was 8.75%.
The county’s total is now 16,838 cases since March and 220,307 people have tested negative.
The county reported four new deaths related to covid-19 on Friday. They occurred from Oct. 23-Oct. 28. One patient was in their 70s, two in their 80s and one was in their 90s. Three deaths were associated with long-term care facilities.
The county has reported a total of 1,505 hospitalizations and 446 deaths related to coronavirus.
The new cases — 128 female and 111 male — range in age from 1 year to 99 years with a median age of 34 years. They break down into these groups:
Age 0-4: 3 cases.
Age 5-12: 6 cases.
Age 13-18: 14 cases.
Age 19-24: 42 cases.
Age 25-49: 99 cases.
Age 50-64: 37 cases.
Age 65 and over: 38 cases.
