According to a report from the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office, Jacob Douglass Stephen Hale, 29, was pronounced dead on North Shore Drive at 9:45 p.m.
According to PSP spokesperson Trooper Rocco Gagliardi, state police responded to Interstate 279 Southbound at the Fort Duquesne Bridge at 9:30 p.m. after receiving a report that Hale was walking in the roadway.
Authorities searched the stretch of road and were later notified that Hale had fallen from the bridge and landed in the area of North Shore Drive, Gagliardi said in an email. He said Pittsburgh police and EMS rendered aid to Hale, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
