The death toll in the United States as a result of the coronavirus reached at least 1,046 Thursday, according to the Johns Hopkins University & Medicine Coronavirus Resource Center.

More than 69,000 people in the country have been infected by covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

More than 22,000 people worldwide have died, and more than 495,000 infections have been reported, according to Johns Hopkins. More than 118,000 people have recovered.

About 18,100 people in Pennsylvania have been tested for the coronavirus, with 1,687 so far having confirmed cases, according to the state Department of Health’s latest numbers. More than 16,400 people have tested negative.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health has reported 16 deaths: Three in Northampton county, two each in Allegheny, Lackawanna, Monroe and Montgomery counties and one each in Delaware, Lehigh, Luzerne and Philadelphia counties.

The state’s numbers do not necessarily include all cases confirmed by individual counties.

Allegheny County reported 45 additional cases Thursday, bringing its total to 133. Westmoreland reported 24 Thursday.
