Woodland Hills High School students participated in classes virtually Friday because of a threat made against the school, according to a message from its principal.

In a Facebook post Friday morning, Principal Shelly Manns said that officials on Thursday night received a screenshot of an individual who had made a threat to the high school. No details on the threat were provided. Manns said the threat had been shared across social media.

“Due to the nature of this threat, the high school will be going virtual today,” Manns said in the post.

Families were notified by telephone calls.

“Although it is not an ideal situation to go virtual, we are taking this threat seriously,” Manns’ post said.

In an update Facebook post on Friday, the school said Churchill police were contacted and able to obtain gun sniffing dogs. The dogs were used to search every locker in the high school, and no weapons were found.

“Our head of security is working with multiple police departments to pursue leads and to identify the owner of the social media account,” the post said.

A representative of Churchill police would not provide any information Friday.

The school encouraged anyone with information that could help identify the person who posted the threat to reach out to the school or police.

The school had shifted to remote instruction for two days in October after district officials cited threats and multiple fights at the school.
