Sylvester “Syl” Damianos, 91, a resident of Longwood at Oakmont, poses in front of his artwork “Peace and Freedom,” at the Longwood at Oakmont Retirement Center in Plum on Friday. Sylvester crafted an 18-foot spiraling sculpture titled “Peace and Freedom,” which he donated to Longwood. The artwork, now displayed on a wall in Longwood’s StoneRidge dining room, took him four months to create and incorporates more than 300 pieces of poplar wood.
