President Donald Trump, with Dr. Mehmet Oz, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, left, and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., right, holds an executive order related to drug prices, in the Roosevelt Room of the White House in Washington, Monday, May 12, 2025, in Washington.

Medicaid cuts may be on the horizon after President Donald Trump signed the controversial “Big Bill,” legislation aimed at eliminating fraud, waste and abuse across various government and bureaucratic systems.

Many Americans are concerned about potential ripple effects on publicly funded programs.

It will take time to assess how the bill affects the health care system, Medicaid infrastructure and medical care for Pennsylvanians in particular.

Supporters say the law is about reducing waste and restoring accountability.

Critics argue it puts the most vulnerable, including the elderly and disabled, at risk.

TribLive reporter Quincey Reese joins Zac Gibson to break down what’s in the new law, what experts are saying and what it could mean for families across Pennsylvania.

This is “From the Newsroom.”
