UPMC names veteran health care executive as president of Hillman Cancer Center
UPMC has named a veteran health care executive with more than 20 years of experience in the U.S. and internationally as president of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
Elizabeth Wild, who first joined UPMC in 2002, has held several leadership roles at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, which is the region’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Wild’s most recent post at Hillman was as senior vice president.
She is succeeding UPMC Executive Vice President Chuck Bogosta, who will continue to serve as president of the UPMC International Division and as an officer and board of director member of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
Before taking on a new role as president of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Wild was part of the leadership team responsible for UPMC’s efforts to deliver patient-focused, cost-effective cancer care across UPMC Hillman’s network of cancer centers, which include more than 70 locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Maryland, Ireland and Italy.
Wild has led business development activity — including new partnerships and expansion in western and central parts of the state — and clinical innovation initiatives designed to transform the center’s approach to cancer care.
As UPMC Hillman’s president, Wild will be tasked with providing the strategic vision for further growth and development, domestically and globally.
UPMC Hillman Caner Center is among the largest cancer-care networks in the country and provides care to more than 110,000 patients each year.
Internationally, Wild will lead the expansion of UPMC Hillman’s cancer care to Italy, Ireland, China and Kazakhstan.
Wild was part of a team that developed a joint venture with Bon Secours Health System — the largest independent health care provider in Ireland — to build an advanced radiotherapy center in Cork, which joined UPMC locations in Waterford, Clane and Kilkenny, where patients can access cancer care close to home. In Italy, Wild worked closely with UPMC’s Italian leadership team to develop cancer centers in Rome and southern Italy.
Wild, a Washington, Pa. native, earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame. She holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
She began her career as a consultant with McKinsey & Company before joining UPMC in 2002. She served as vice president and chief operating officer for UPMC Hillman Cancer Center before leaving UPMC to serve as the executive vice president for Cancer Treatment Services International Inc. Wild rejoined UPMC as senior vice president of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in 2015.
