The Alabama Crimson Tide is going into the 2022 CFP National Championship tonight as three-point underdogs, according to BetMGM’s latest NCAAF odds. Gametime is 8 p.m. EST.

However, they have already beaten the Georgia Bulldogs once before in the SEC championship game.

Do they have what it takes to beat the Bulldogs twice? Here are three reasons I think they will beat Georgia. (And here are three reason why Georgia can win.)

1. Jameson Williams

When WR John Metchie went down for Alabama, Jameson Williams had to step up. He has been on a roll lately, with at least six catches in six of his last seven games.

In this stretch of seven games, he has had 920 receiving yards and nine touchdown receptions. The last time he played Georgia, he put up seven catches for 184 yards and two touchdown receptions.

Metchie has undoubtedly been a loss, but with Williams, Alabama still has one of the best wide receivers in the country.

I believe Williams will help lead Alabama to a victory.

2. Turnovers

Alabama does a much better job than Georgia at taking care of the football. They rank 18th in the country in turnover margin with +9.

In contrast, Georgia ranks 49th in the country with +3.

Alabama’s defense has had 20 takeaways this season, 15 of which were interceptions. In their last game against Georgia, Alabama intercepted two passes, including an interception returned for a touchdown.

If Alabama can take care of the football and come up with a key interception or two, that could be enough to cause momentum to shift to their favor.

3. Facing Good Defenses

Finally, Alabama has proven that their offense is not afraid to take on an elite defense throughout this season. Georgia’s will admittedly be a challenge considering that they give up less than ten points per game on average.

However, the Crimson Tide have faced three defenses that rank in the top five in points allowed per game, including Georgia. They have averaged over 35 points per game in games where the opposing defense averages less than 17 points per game allowed.

This is a battle-tested offense that’s led by Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young that’s already scored 41 points against Georgia in their first meeting. I think Alabama’s offense can rack up points against anyone.

Will the Alabama Crimson Tide Win?

If the Alabama Crimson Tide can get these three things going in their favor, I believe they will win the CFP National Championship. Do you think they will win it all, or do you think Georgia takes the crown from Alabama?
