One person died Sunday in a commercial vehicle crash that led to extended delays on a major highway in Centre County, state police at Rockview said.

The crash occurred about 3 p.m. Sunday along Interstate 80 eastbound in Snow Shoe Township, trooper Christopher Fox said. No other details were immediately available.

As of 8:30 p.m., both eastbound lanes remained closed between the Snow Shoe and Milesburg exits, about 10 miles. It’s unclear when the highway is expected to reopen. Traffic is being diverted to state Route 144.

There were two fatal crashes during the previous decade in Snow Shoe Township, the most recently available data from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation showed.

Twelve fatal crashes were reported over the same period in Rush Township, the most of any municipality in Centre County.
