Three people were injured Sunday when the chair they were riding in fell off a ski lift line at Camelback Resort in Monroe County and crashed to the ground, officials said.

The people fell about 15 feet near the top of the mountain and were taken away by a St. Luke’s University Health Network ambulance, Pocono Township police Sgt. Shawn Goucher said. As police only responded to assist, he is not aware of the extent of their injuries.

The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m., he said.

Camelback officials declined to comment on the victims or the extent of their injuries, but issued a statement confirming the accident on the Sullivan Lift is under investigation.

“Camelback Resort is working with the appropriate state authorities to investigate yesterday’s incident involving the Sullivan Lift,” a statement from the resort reads. “The health and safety of our guests and associates is and remains our number one priority.”

The Sullivan Lift remains closed Monday, according to Camelback’s website.
