Just over two weeks ago, former President Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for president, survived an assassination attempt while campaigning in Pennsylvania. Trump will be back in the state today, his first campaign visit here since the shooting.
People were camped out at the rainy Farm Show Complex overnight ahead of the rally, which begins around 4 p.m. with a speech from Republican Senate candidate Dave McCormick. Trump is supposed to speak around 6 p.m.

Parking lot is filling up: As of 10 a.m., Harrisburg officials said the parking lot at the Farm Show Complex, which is hosting the Trump event this evening, is half-full. Doors to the venue open at 2 p.m., so it’ll be a long, hot wait for some people to get inside. The venue holds a little more than 7,000 people. Free tickets were available but don’t guarantee a seat.
City and state officials have warned that traffic around the Farm Show will be busy today. Roads will be closed as Trump arrives to the area, and again when he leaves.
Where’s Harris?
Vice President Kamala Harris, the likely Democratic nominee for president after Joe Biden left the race, plans to be in Pennsylvania on Tuesday with her running mate — who hasn’t been identified yet. On Wednesday, Harris is in Houston.
What can you take inside?: Not much. Bags are forbidden, according to campaign emails to ticketholders. Food and drinks will be sold inside the event, according to the campaign, and several vendors had already set up outside the Farm Show complex on Tuesday evening.
Other prohibited items include alcohol, balloons, balls, banners and signs, e-cigarettes, glass, thermal and metal containers, laser lights, mace or pepper spray, noisemakers such as air horns, sticks and selfie sticks, and tripods.
