Hershey Chocolate World evacuated its building due to a bomb threat reported at around 3:30 p.m. Friday, according to officials.

Security officials from Chocolate World called Dauphin County 911 dispatchers to report the threat, according to Jennifer Fitch, press secretary for Dauphin County. Fitch said the popular tourist destination was evacuated as a precaution.

Derry Township Police Department was investigating the incident. Meanwhile, Dauphin County Sheriff’s Office is using bomb-sniffing dogs to search the premises, according to Fitch.

Hershey’s Chocolate World is part of an entertainment complex that includes Hersheypark, Hersheypark Stadium, Hersheypark Arena, Hershey Museum and Giant Center. Chocolate World is free for people to enter and browse for products and to take a free ride. It attracts around 3.8 million visitors every year, according to LancasterOnline.com.
