Hershey's Mini ranks as Pennsylvania's favorite Halloween candy
You can’t keep a good candy bar down.
Only two years after coming in third as Pennsylvania’s favorite Halloween candy, Hershey’s mini bars lands at No. 1 this year as the state’s most popular candy treat.
Each year, Candystore.com adds up several years’ worth of sales figures — 12 to be exact — to arrive at the most popular candy in each state. They provide a Top 3 in each.
This year, the 12-year tally finds that Pennsylvanians prefer Hershey’s, which comes in at No. 1, followed by last year’s winner Skittles, then M&M’s.

Ohio’s top pick is M&M’s, West Virginia’s is Blow Pops, and New York seems to prefer Hot Tamales. (Really? Hot Tamales?)
The site reports that the National Retail Federation estimates $2.6 billion worth of candy will be bought this year, just about matching last year’s tally. They also report about 95% of households will buy candy for Halloween.
Candystore.com also ranked the top selling candy nationwide, with Skittles taking the top spot, followed by Reese’s Cups, M&M’s, Snickers and Starburst.

Oddly, candy corn comes in as the No. 6 best-selling candy nationwide, despite being named as the worst Halloween candy this year.
