Man convicted of 2nd-degree murder in deaths of mother, son
WILLIAMSPORT — A man has been convicted of second-degree murder in a Halloween night 2016 home invasion in central Pennsylvania that left a mother and son slain.
Jurors in Lycoming County also convicted 37-year-old Joseph Sentore Coleman Jr. on Friday of robbery, conspiracy and attempted robbery in the deaths of 25-year-old Shane Wright and 50-year-old Kristine Kibler.
PennLive.com reports that Coleman, who is black, yelled “racist” at the all-white jury after the verdict was read.
Defense attorney Robert Hoffa told reporters he plans to appeal. He attacked the credibility of a co-defendant who pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and testified against his client. Prosecutors said DNA evidence also placed Coleman in the house.
Thirty-seven-year-old Jordan Adonis Rawls, accused of having been the gunman, faces trial in April in the case.
