HomeToGo cited falls on the Youghiogheny River as one of several reasons it ranked Ohiopyle State Park the nation’s No. 1 state park “for great-value stays.”

Nine state parks in Pennsylvania have been listed among the United States’ best when it comes to getting the most bang for your buck.

In fact, one topped the list.

As conducted and published by HomeToGo, the list ranked Ohiopyle State Park in Fayette County as the No. 1 state park “for great-value stays.” The study praises the park’s “rugged gorges” and waterfalls, deeming it a cost-friendly “veritable playground for hikers.”

“Short-listed for their grate-value nearby accommodation options, these state parks are scored according to factors such as size, wildlife, scenic wow-factor and their likelihood to help visitors to savor some solitude,” the report reads.

“The result is a definitive guide to America’s most spectacular outdoor getaways that won’t drain your vacation budget.”

And — as previously mentioned — Ohiopyle isn’t the only state park recognized for being amiable to one’s wallet. The following in Pennsylvania did so as well:

  • Caledonia State Park (19th overall)
  • Black Moshannon State Park (24th)
  • Cook Forest State Park (26th)
  • Worlds End State Park (30th)
  • Presque Isle State Park (39th)
  • Bald Eagle State Park (45th)
  • Parker Dam State park (56th)
  • Cherry Springs State Park (95th)

“Our 2025 Travel Forecast found that one-third of Americans want to explore nature’s wonders this year, with many also prioritizing affordability and avoiding overcrowded spots,” said HomeToGo spokesperson and travel expert Eleanor Moody, via email.

“This year’s ‘State Park Index’ highlights 100 incredible destinations, showcasing just how many beautiful parks are tucked away across the United States.”
