Pa. Farm Show opens Saturday with some new food offerings
Food is one of the biggest draws to the Pennsylvania Farm Show, and this year is no exception.
The Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association, famous for its milkshakes, is introducing a new sandwich — Grilled Cheese Stix. The offering features mozzarella cheese sandwiched between Martin’s potato bread, served with a side of marinara dipping sauce.
The association, which advocates for the state’s dairy farmers, also will offer milkshakes in three flavors — vanilla, chocolate and mixed — along with fried mozzarella cheese cubes served with marinara, grilled cheese sandwiches, ice cream and ice cream sandwiches, and white and chocolate milk.
Sale proceeds support the PA Dairymen’s annual philanthropic efforts.
Also, the Mushroom Farmers of Pennsylvania will introduce the Philly Port Sandwich — Pennsylvania portobello mushrooms seasoned with garlic, onions, salt, pepper and cheese. The sandwich also is available in vegan and gluten-free versions.
The Farm Show opens in Harrisburg on Saturday and continues through Jan. 11. Milkshakes go on sale at noon Friday, when the food court opens to the public. Admission and parking for the day are free.
