A female convenience store clerk who reminded a customer about wearing a face mask ended up beaten and bloody after the customer attacked her while rambling about “martial law,” police say.

As MontgomeryNew.com reports, it happened in Perkasie Borough, Bucks County, at the Olde Towne Convenience Store late last week.

That’s where 24-year-old Elijah Scott Brown is accused of repeatedly punching a female clerk in the face when she told him he had to wear a face mask to enter the convenience store, according to Perkasie Borough Police.

“The victim explained that the offender entered the store, incoherently rambling on about martial law and not making much sense. He began cursing inside the store as well,” the investigating officer is quoted as writing in the May 8 police report.

“She asked him to leave the store unless he had a mask on. The offender refused to leave when asked by the victim and proceeded to assault her by repeatedly punching her face. He then proceeded to knock merchandise off of the counter and a cart full of items onto the floor while exiting the store,” the officer wrote.

The female clerk suffered a swollen left cheek and bleeding under her lip, police said.

Brown is also accused of trying to elude police by running and using his knee to deliberately strike an officer trying to detain and apprehend him, police added.

He was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, defiant trespass, resisting arrest, harassment and criminal mischief.

At last report, he had been transported to Bucks County Correctional Facility, with bail set at 10 percent of $30,000.
