Pennsylvania on Tuesday reported 2,564 additional coronavirus cases and 74 additional deaths, according to the state Department of Health.

Tuesday’s reported cases were designated 1,843 confirmed and 721 probable. Of the newly reported deaths, 69 are from February, three from January and one each in December and November.

Health officials define a probable case as one in which a patient has a positive viral antigen test or covid symptoms with a “high-risk exposure” to someone who has been confirmed to have coronavirus.

Total cases in the state are now 935,834 and total deaths are 24,100.

Covid hospitalizations in Pennsylvania again decreased Tuesday with 1,670 patients in the hospital, down 45 from Monday. It was the seventh day in a row that hospitalizations decreased in the state, dropping 315 over that span.

Current hospitalization numbers are about half of what they were a month ago. On Feb. 2, there were 3,281 covid-19 patients in hospitals compared to 1,670 hospitalized Tuesday.

In Western Pennsylvania, Allegheny County had the most additional cases Tuesday with 200. No other county in the region added more than 50 cases. Westmoreland County had 47 cases, and Butler and Washington counties each had 39.
