A Dauphin County woman faces charges including attempted murder after police said she tried to drown her children during a “baptism,” according to ABC 27.

Pennsylvania State Police began investigating after reports of a woman they allege was Candice McElwee walking with four children along a road in Middle Paxton Township at about 3 a.m. Sept. 6, according to ABC 27.

McElwee allegedly told state police “I have a problem, one of my children are possessed and I need to manage it. … I need to eliminate one child.”

She also allegedly said the child “will be resurrected,” according to ABC 27, which further reported that police believe McElwee may have been using methamphetamine and dealing with health problems.

McElwee faces charges including two counts of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault of children under 13, and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, according to ABC 27.
