The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 25 coronavirus deaths and 631 new cases on Wednesday.

The 25 deaths raise the state’s total to 7,063 attributed to covid-19, while the 631 cases bring the statewide total to 103,396. Wednesday’s report doesn’t include Philadelphia County, whose data wasn’t received.

Allegheny County had 96 new cases and Westmoreland 21.

Other counties in Southwestern Pennsylvania saw rises in coronavirus cases: Armstrong 129 (+7), Beaver 1,046 (+35), Butler 513 (+5), Fayette 288 (+9), Indiana 185 (+4), Somerset 100 (+3) and Washington 603 (+11).

Between July 15-21, 148,209 tests have been administered in the state, with 6,094 positive cases.

Out of the state’s more than 7,000 deaths, 4,829 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. Those facilities also account for 22,161 cases among residents (18,486) and employees (3,675).

“As the state has put in place new mitigation efforts to offset recent case increases, we must renew our commitment to protecting against covid-19 by wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and following the requirements set forth in the orders for bars and restaurants, gatherings and telework,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said.

“Pennsylvania has been a model for the country on how to reopen effectively using a careful, measured approach. However, we know the virus has not gone away as we see cases rise, so we must work together to stop another surge.”
