Pennsylvania adds 561 new covid-19 cases, 26 new deaths to totals

Pennsylvania reported 561 new coronavirus cases Tuesday, according to the state Department of Health.

The state’s covid-19 cases count is now 130,035, as a result.

Between resident cases (20,798) and employee cases (4,411), there are 25,209 covid-19 cases from nursing and personal care homes. That accounts for 19% of total cases.

New deaths reported in Pennsylvania were 26 and increase the death total to 7,605. Out of total deaths, 5,131 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities, according to the state.

Of the state’s new deaths, one is from July 17, the others from Aug. 12-21. It is also the most new deaths reported in the last seven days.

In that same seven-day span, new cases have ranged from 561 reported Tuesday to 796 reported Saturday.

There are 543 covid-19 patients are currently hospitalized in Pennsylvania, with 82 of them requiring ventilation.

The department of health estimated 81% of covid-19 cases have recovered.

The lows and highs for new cases and deaths vary widely during August. The lowest number of new covid-19 cases reported this month were 384 on Aug. 17. Conversely, 991 new cases were reported Aug. 13.

No new deaths were reported Aug. 3 and Aug. 17, while the high for August, 38 new deaths, came Aug. 6.
