Pennsylvania on Monday continued its run of days with new cases counts in the 700s.

With 711 new cases of covid-19, the state has now posted a count in the 700s in four out of the past five days. To date, there have been 101,738 cases of coronavirus in Pennsylvania.

The state posted three new deaths, all of which were attributed to Allegheny County. However, the state’s death total for Allegheny County has been behind for several days. With this latest report, the state and Allegheny County both are reporting a total of 208 deaths for the region.

Cases of covid-19 have been reported in all 67 counties in Pennsylvania, while deaths from covid-19 have been reported in 60 counties. So far, 7,018 people have been listed as dying from covid-19 in Pennsylvania.

The state now has a total of 98,872 confirmed cases, with 2,866 cases listed as probable.

In the past seven days, the state has administered 153,838 tests.

Allegheny County’s 172 new case count was, by far, the largest increase in the state. Philadelphia County reported 86 new cases, while the next highest counts came from Delaware County with 40 new cases and Montgomery and Bucks counties, which each posted 34 new cases. Westmoreland County added 21 new cases.

Most of the patients hospitalized are age 65 or older, and more than 78% of the deaths in the state are among those ages 70-99.

In nursing and personal care homes, the state reports there are 18,685 resident cases of covid-19, and 3,614 cases among employees, for a total of 22,299 at 792 distinct facilities in 59 counties. Out of our total deaths, 4,804 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

State health officials reiterated that mask wearing is required in all businesses and whenever leaving home. Consistent mask wearing is critical to preventing the spread of covid-19, officials said.
