Pennsylvania continues trend of 1,000-plus new covid-19 cases

Pennsylvania reported 1,342 new covid-19 cases Tuesday, according to the state Department of Health.

Coronavirus-related deaths also increased, with 16 new deaths reported.

Of the 16 deaths reported Tuesday, one is from October, nine are from September, three are from August, one is from July and two from June.

Total cases are now 174,646, and the death total is now 8,384. Thus far in October, there have been 15,679 covid-19 cases and 242 deaths reported in the state.

In Pennsylvania, there are currently 773 covid-19 patients hospitalized, with 83 on ventilators.

The current seven-day average of coronavirus cases in the state (1,343) and seven-day case total (9,403) are the highest those figures have been since mid-April.

Covid-19 cases in the state are most common in those age 25-49, with that age group making up about 36% of total cases in the state. The 50-64 and 65+ age groups each make up about 21% of Pennsylvania cases.
