Pennsylvania inched closer to 100,000 coronavirus cases on Thursday, with 781 additional positive test results reported. That brings the state’s total number of cases to 98,446.

The state’s department of health also reported 16 additional deaths, bringing the total attributed to covid-19 to 6,973.

In the past seven days, between July 9 and 15, 142,176 tests were administered in Pennsylvania, officials said. That includes individuals who have been tested multiple times. The state did not specify how many individuals were tested. In all, 5,517 people were reported to have tested positive.

The state reported 20,413 tests administered Wednesday.

Allegheny County led the state with a reported 140 cases, while Philadelphia County had 132.

Gov. Tom Wolf on Wednesday announced new restrictions on bars and restaurants throughout the state, limiting them to 25% of their indoor capacity, down from the 50% that had been allowed. In Allegheny County, indoor seating at restaurants, cafes and bar is prohibited, while outdoor seating is allowed.

“We’re already at a tipping point where we have to act now,” Wolf said, later adding, “This virus is saying, ‘I’m back.’ “
