Pennsylvania reported 1,036 new covid-19 cases Tuesday, according to the state Department of Health.

There were 17 new coronavirus-related deaths, as well. Of those, one is from May, 11 from September and five from October.

The new figures bring total cases to 165,243 and total deaths to 8,244 in Pennsylvania.

In the state, there are currently 633 covid-19 patients hospitalized, 74 of them on ventilators.

Thus far in October, there have been 6,276 new coronavirus cases in Pennsylvania. During the same period of time, there were fewer cases in recent months. From Sept. 1 to Sept. 6, there were 5,291 new cases. From Aug. 1 to Aug 6, there were 4,473 new cases.

Tuesday also saw Gov. Tom Wolf increase gathering-size limits for events statewide. Starting Friday, indoor events are limited to 10% to 20% of capacity, depending on the venue’s size, and outdoor events can admit 15% to 25%.
