Pennsylvania reports 1,161 additional coronavirus cases, 19 new deaths

Pennsylvania on Friday added 1,161 new coronavirus cases to bring the total reported cases to 161,284.

Of the new cases, 1,084 are confirmed and 77 are probable, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The state’s seven-day average is now above 1,000 cases per day for the first time since May 12, when it hit 1,005.

The total number of people testing negative in the state is now 1,904,971, with 15,332 of those added Friday. The daily positivity rate is 7.04%

The state reported 19 new deaths attributed to covid-19. That takes the total to 8,179 since the pandemic began here in March.

There are 561 patients hospitalized for covid-19 and 63 are on ventilators.

Of the total patients testing positive in the state since March, the ages break down into these groups:

Approximately 1% are ages 0-4.

Nearly 2% are ages 5-12.

Nearly 5% are ages 13-18.

Nearly 14% are ages 19-24.

Nearly 36% are ages 25-49.

Approximately 21% are ages 50-64.

Nearly 22% are ages 65 or older.

The Department of Health reports that there are 23,096 resident cases of covid-19 in nursing and personal care homes and 5,131 cases among employees. The total cases at 984 distinct facilities is 28,227. Of Pennsylvania’s total deaths, 5,479 have been residents from nursing or personal care facilities.
