Pennsylvania on Sunday reported 15 more covid-19 deaths and 623 additional cases, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 62,234, state officials said.

A total of 4,418 people have died from the virus, which has been reported in all of the state’s 67 counties. More than 270,600 people have tested negative.

Nursing and personal care homes account for roughly 25% of the total cases statewide. More than two-thirds of the reported deaths, 69%, have occurred in residents of such facilities, state officials said.

More than 4,400 cases involve health care workers.

According to state officials, a total of 15,447 positive cases have been reported at 558 distinct facilities in 45 counties. There are 13,447 cases of covid-19 among nursing home residents, and 2,091 cases among employees.

Allegheny and Westmoreland counties reported no new deaths from the virus Sunday, leaving Allegheny’s death total at 143 and Westmoreland’s at 32. As of Sunday, the state attributed 31 of the deaths in Allegheny County and 27 of the deaths in Westmoreland County to nursing and personal care homes.

Allegheny, Westmoreland and several other counties moved into the yellow phase of the state’s red/yellow/green reopening plan last week. Other counties, including Beaver, will make the move on Friday.

As of Sunday, Beaver County reported 517 total covid-19 cases and 83 deaths. Of those deaths, 76 were associated with three nursing and personal care homes, the state said.

“As counties move from red to yellow, we need all Pennsylvanians to continue to follow the social distancing and mitigation efforts in place,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said in a Sunday statement. “We must continue to protect our most vulnerable Pennsylvanians, which includes our seniors, those with underlying health issues, our health care workers and our first responders.”
