Pennsylvania on Friday reported a slightly lower 6,047 additional cases of covid-19 compared to the previous three days, which were each above 7,000.

After seeing two days in January that added more than 10,000 cases each, the state has had daily case reports below 8,000 for six consecutive days, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Of the new cases, 4,821 have been confirmed out of 18,566 new PCR tests while 1,226 are recorded as probable by the Department of Health.

The state has reported 754,611 cases of covid-19 since the pandemic arrived in March, with 666,521 of those confirmed.

Health officials define a probable case as one in which a patient has a positive viral antigen test or covid symptoms with a “high-risk exposure” to someone who has been confirmed to have coronavirus.

Pennsylvania added 215 covid related deaths to raise the state’s total to 18,957, according to the Department of Health.

The counties reporting the most additional cases Friday are Philadelphia (605), Allegheny (420), Montgomery (364), Bucks (321) and Lancaster with 308.

The state has 4,848 residents hospitalized for covid-19 with 1,010 of them in intensive care units and 604 using ventilators.
