Pennsylvania on Sunday reported 619 new coronavirus cases, as the seven-day average case count dropped to 655.
The state Department of Health reported two new deaths attributed to coronavirus after posting 18 on Saturday and 20 on Friday. The state total stands at 7,578.
The two deaths are attributed to Allegheny County. The state and the county have different death figures – the state count is 293, while the county has 306. In the past, county officials have said the reason for differences in tallies is in the state’s reporting databases.
The new data brings the total cases to 129,048. Officials said 645 are considered probable cases.
Allegheny County reported an increase of 86 cases while Philadelphia County saw an increase of 80 cases.
The department stated that the 157,396 tests were administered within the last seven days between Aug. 16-22 with 4,889 positive cases.
More than 1.55 million people in the state have been tested for the virus. The overall positivity rate is 8.3%.
The state reported that most of the patients hospitalized, currently 501 people, are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.
But according to the state’s covid-19 dashboard, most of the cases in the state are in people aged 20-59.
The Department of Health advises that if people have or think they have covid-19, they should stay home and keep away from others.
