Pennsylvania reports 693 new coronavirus cases, 20 new deaths
Pennsylvania on Friday reported an additional 693 cases of covid-19, bringing total cases to 127,633, according to the state Department of Health.
The seven-day average has dropped to 669 cases, its lowest since July 6.
The state is reporting 510 patients currently hospitalized, 93 of which are on ventilators.
The counties reporting the most new cases were Philadelphia (82), Allegheny (80), Lancaster (65), and Delaware (40).
The state reported 20 new deaths, one of them from April 6 and the rest from Aug. 6-19. Pennsylvania’s total deaths related to covid-19 is 7,558.
Of the state’s total deaths, 5,121 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care homes. In those facilities, the state reports 20,594 resident cases of covid-19, and 4,336 cases among employees, for a total of 24,930 at 910 sites.
With 14,131 new test results reported, the state’s daily positivity rate is 4.9%. There are 1,399,509 patients who have tested negative to date, according to the Department of Health.
Of the state total cases to date, 124,031 are confirmed and 3,602 are reported probable.
The ages of patients break down like this:
1% are ages 0-4;
Nearly 2% are ages 5-12;
Nearly 4% are ages 13-18;
Nearly 10% are ages 19-24;
Nearly 38% are ages 25-49;
Nearly 23% are ages 50-64; and
Nearly 24% are ages 65 or older.
