The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 800 new cases of covid-19 and four new deaths in the state on Sunday.
The new data brings the total cases to 107,425 with a death toll of 7,118.
Sunday’s report of 800 cases comes after the state had reported back-to-back days (Friday and Saturday) of more than 1,000 new cases.
Allegheny County reported 133 new covid-19 cases and no new deaths on Sunday. The county is reporting 222 deaths, while the state lists 218.
Westmoreland County saw 31 new cases of covid-19 added to its total Sunday for a total of 1,302 cases. The death total is at 43 after adding a new death on Saturday.
Philadelphia County, which has the highest number of cases (24,955) and deaths (1,671) in the state, reported an increase of 148 cases.
The state reported that 1,028,776 individuals have tested negative to date, leading to a positivity rate of 6.22%.
The state covid-19 dashboard shows that there are 707 people hospitalized for the virus. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.
A large numbers of covid-19 cases are associated with nursing and personal care homes. According to the state, there are 19,134 resident cases and 3,818 cases among employees, for a total of 22,952 at 829 facilities. Out of the total state deaths, 4,851 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.
Pennsylvania officials continue to urge people to use caution by maintaining social distance and wearing masks.
