The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 888 new positive cases of covid-19 and 15 deaths on Saturday.
The new cases bring the state’s total to 112,936, with all 67 counties having reported cases, and 7,204 deaths.
The state health department reported increases in deaths related to covid-19 in only nine counties Saturday. Three of those deaths were added to the state’s tally for Allegheny County of 233. However, Allegheny County Health Department reports a total of 240 deaths — a discrepancy that’s been credited to different reporting methods between the county and the state.
Allegheny County had the third most new cases reported (66) behind Philadelphia County (167) and Delaware (101).
In Southwestern Pennsylvania, Allegheny’s 66 new cases raised its total to 8,094. Here’s a look at the total positive cases (as of Saturday) for neighboring counties and the growth from Friday:

Overall, the state’s positivity rate sits at 9.1%.
The state is also reporting that there are currently 579 covid-19 patients hospitalized, with 89 on ventilators.

Nursing and personal care homes have been hit hard, with 19,588 resident cases and 3,954 employee cases, for a total of 23,512 among 856 facilities. Nearly 5,000 of the state’s deaths have occurred in residents of nursing or personal care homes.
