Pennsylvania added 994 new covid-19 cases to its total Wednesday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported.

The increase of nearly 1,000 cases represents the second straight day the number was above 900. That last time that happened was in mid-May. On Tuesday, 929 cases were reported.

There were 139,819 tests administered from July 8 and July 14, resulting in 5,372 positive cases, according to the health department.

The state reported 26 new coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the death total to 6,957. Deaths from covid-19 have been recorded in 59 of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties.

Officials said that in the past day, close to 28,800 covid-19 diagnostic test results have been reported to the department, the highest one-day number of covid-19 diagnostic test results reported. The state did not specify how many individuals were tested.

Of the 97,665 total cases in the state, 94,873 are confirmed and 2,792 are probable.

Wednesday’s state coronavirus case numbers include 246 cases from Allegheny County and 135 cases from Philadelphia County.

On Sunday, the state reported 725 covid-19 cases, followed by 328 cases on Monday and the 929 cases reported Tuesday.
