A new study has found that people in Pennsylvania really kept their spirits high in 2020.

The study found that those in the Keystone State drank an average total of 753 drinks each by the end of the year.

While this may not be surprising because of how stressful 2020 was for the majority of people, what is surprising is that this number is still somehow below the national average.

Conducted and published by DrugAbuse.com, the study found that while those in the Keystone State drank roughly 14 drinks per week, the entire United States of America held an average total of 17 drinks per individual per week, or 884 per person for the whole year.

In fact, there were plenty of states that (probably quite literally) drank Pennsylvania under the table. People in Alaska racked up a total of 1,404 per individual for all of 2020 while those in Rhode Island got almost-as-toasted with a total of 1,261.

On the flip side of things, people appeared to be on their best behavior in New Hampshire and Hawaii who both saw their residents drink around 520 alcoholic beverages each.

For those who are curious, the DrugAbuse.com study does not specify which kind of drinks Pennsylvanians were knocking back the most in 2020. However, a separate study by American Addiction Centers lists hot toddies, Irish creams, whiskey, wine and beer as the most popular boozes people in the state like to drink as temperatures drop.
