Pennsylvania's daily coronavirus cases soar to record 3,384
Pennsylvania on Friday set a record for covid-19 cases reported on a single day with 3,384. Of those, 2,910 are confirmed.
The state recorded 20,414 new test results with 17,030 of those negative.
The state’s total is now 223,950 cases since March with 212,258 of those confirmed while 2,408,366 residents have tested negative.
The 7-day test positivity rate across the state is currently 12.66% with a daily case rate reaching a new high of 16.58%.
The number of tests administered in the last seven days is 301,056 with 17,690 positive cases. There were a record 49,528 total tests reported to the Pennsylvania Department of Health through Nov. 5, which includes people who may have been tested previously.
The state reports 4,743 people who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases and 646 who have a positive serology test and either covid-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure.
The state reported 38 additional deaths. Pennsylvania now has a total of 8,975 deaths attributed to covid-19.
The Department of Health’s dashboard shows 1,597 people currently hospitalized with 351 in an intensive care unit. The state has 149 covid-19 patients on ventilators.
There are 27,104 resident cases of covid-19 in nursing and personal care homes plus 5,810 cases among employees. That’s a total of 32,914 at 1,106 facilities. Of the state’s total covid-19 deaths, 5,903 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care homes.
Of all the positive cases to date, about 1% are ages 0-4;
About 2% are ages 5-12;
About 5% are ages 13-18;
Nearly 14% are ages 19-24;
About 36% are ages 25-49;
About 21% are ages 50-64;
And nearly 21% are ages 65 or older.
