A Philadelphia teen died after he was shot 13 times while riding his bike on Sunday.

The shooting occurred on the 1700 block of 68th Avenue around 4:39 p.m., NBC 10 is reporting.

The teen’s mother, Shineka Crawford, told CBS 3 that her son, Shaquille Barbour, 18, was riding home from a corner store when the shooting occurred.

“I saw him 10 minutes before he got killed,” Crawford told the station. “He said, ‘I love you, Mom,’ I said, ‘I love you more,’ and he gave me a hug and a kiss.”

She described her son as being good-hearted and respectful and told the station, “I can’t describe the pain, it’s that bad. … I wouldn’t want any mother to go through this, this hurts.”

Her daughter had also been shot recently, but recovered, Crawford told CBS 3, calling for an end to gun violence in the city.

No arrests have been made.

According to reports, as of Saturday night, Philadelphia has seen 221 homicides in 2021, up 21% from this time last year, which was one of the deadliest in the city’s history.
