A Bucks County man is facing charges after police say he shot his dog and barbecued it.

Nikolay Lukyanchikov, 49, is facing charges of aggravated cruelty to animals, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure and related offenses after the incident on Friday, NBC 10 is reporting.

Lukyanchikov remained in custody Monday in lieu of $1 million bail after prosecutors argued the serious nature of the felony cruelty to animals charge warranted such a high amount, the Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting.

According to reports, police were called to his Northampton Township home around 7 a.m. Friday for a report of an fire in his front yard.

Police say they found Lukyanchikov sitting on a couch in the yard, “incredibly intoxicated,” unable to speak and setting $100 bills on fire.

When the fire was brought under control, police saw a badly burned and charred animal on top of a barbecue grate, the Inquirer reports. Police learned the animal was Lukyanchikov’s dog, which had been shot in the eye, reports indicate.

According to reports, Lukyanchikov’s roommate told police she heard gunfire from his room earlier that day, and he admitted to her that he shot his dog with a 9-mm Beretta handgun and hid it outside,.

Bullet holes were found in a nearby bedroom, as well as blood in the hallway of the home, reports indicate. Police found the handgun at the scene, according to reports.

In spring 2017, Lukyanchikov shared a photo on Facebook of a German shepherd and a Siamese cat that he called “our formidable security forces.” It’s unclear whether the dog pictured was the animal killed in the incident.
