Apparently, it’s better in Ohio and West Virginia — or, at least, Sheetz bathrooms are.
Sheetz tops the list for the cleanest bathrooms in those neighboring states, according to gas price tracker GasBuddy.
But Wawa takes the top spot in Pennsylvania.
But Wawa and Sheetz apparently pale in comparison to the lavatories offered by Utah-based Maverik, which claimed the top spot in six states, the most of any brand, and Texas-based Buc-ee’s, which had the highest-rated gas station restrooms in the nation, according to GasBuddy.
According to its ratings and review data, GasBuddy found that gas station restrooms are getting cleaner, with cleanliness ratings improving 6% since 2017.
“The reputation of gas station restrooms has cleaned up significantly in the past three years, with brands making concerted efforts to make their facilities sparkle,” said Frank Beard, convenience store and retail trends analyst at GasBuddy.
Brands needed to have at least 20 locations in a state to be included in the analysis.
Apparently, finding a clean restroom is a rising concern among travelers. GasBuddy’s 2019 summer travel survey found 40% of travelers fear needing to use the restroom but not knowing where to find a clean one, up 3% from the previous year.
