The state’s poultry, swine, lamb, goat and sheep processors who purchased coronavirus-related equipment for their workers can get reimbursed under a new state program.

The state agriculture department and PennAG Industries Association, a Harrisburg-based trade organization, have made $280,000 available through the Center for Poultry and Livestock Excellence for reimbursement of personal protective equipment, or PPE.

The program is available to any processor that bought equipment such as masks and face shields between Feb. 19 and May 18. The money is available on a first-come, first-serve basis until June 12, or until funds are exhausted.

Farmers must provide a receipt to be eligible for maximum reimbursements up to $16,000, including $10,000 for PPE and sanitation and cleaning materials; $5,000 for prevention and surveillance instruments, such as thermometers; and $1,000 for bilingual training materials and signage.
