Pennsylvania officials on Tuesday reported 61 more covid-19 deaths and 493 additional cases, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 76,436, according to health officials.
A total of 6,014 people have died from the virus. Nearly 460,000 people have tested negative. Of the total cases, 71% have recovered.
Approximately 5,742 of the total cases are from health care workers. There are 625 patients who have a positive serology test and either covid-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure, which are considered probable cases, but not confirmed.
There are 459,248 patients who have tested negative to date.
State officials Monday mandated that universal testing take place in Pennsylvania’s nursing homes and long-term care facilities. Most hospitalized patients and most who have died from covid-19 are age 65 or older.
Nursing and personal care home residents account for 16,247 of positive cases, as well as 2,824 positive cases among their employees.
More than 4,100 of the 6,014 deaths in the state have been residents at 618 nursing and personal care facilities in 45 counties.
