3 Sundays approved for Pennsylvania deer, bear hunting
Three Sundays this fall were approved for hunting by the Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners.
Archery deer hunting will be allowed on Nov. 15, bear hunters can take to the woods on Nov. 22 and deer hunters using firearms can be out Nov. 29, according to information released by the Pennsylvania Game Commission Tuesday.
The first day of firearms buck season will be on the Saturday after Thanksgiving — Nov. 28.
It will be the first year for hunting on Sunday after Gov. Tom Wolf last year lifted a ban against it. The new law allows hunting on three Sundays: one during rifle deer season, one in archery deer season and a third that was to be determined by the game commission.
Some legislators said opening up Sundays for hunting allowed more opportunity for young people, new hunters and others unable to get in the woods during the week.
