Members of a Department of Homeland Security police force stand guard at the North Carolina monument in the Gettysburg National Military Park on July 4, 2020.

Officials with the Gettysburg National Military Park are warning the public about an unexploded commercial grade firework potentially located near Gettysburg Area Recreation Park.

The unexploded firework is possibly located in wooded areas and fields west of Gettysburg Area Recreation Park and east of West Confederate Avenue.

If you happen to come across the firework, do not touch it, move it or attempt to ignite it. Instead, mark the location, take pictures and call 911.

If located, trained personnel will respond to the area and safely dispose of or neutralize the firework.

Gettysburg hosted its “A Gettysburg Fourth” celebration and fireworks show at the Gettysburg Area Recreation Park earlier this month.
