A York County man charged with being part of the Jan. 6 riots at the United States Capitol Building signed a plea deal with federal prosecutors.
Cameron Campanella II, 46, of York, signed the document in which he agreed to plead guilty to disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building and grounds, as well as parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building, both misdemeanors.
Video recordings from inside the Capitol Building showed Campanella II briefly enter and leave the Senate Wing doors at around 3 p.m.
Investigators tracked Campanella down when they saw a phone tied to his Google account was at the United States Capitol Building on Jan. 6, according to federal investigators.
When federal investigators interviewed Campanella June 22, 2022, he declined to talk about the events of Jan. 6, 2021 but told them he was “not scared” and said investigating the riots at the Capitol Building was a waste of time, according to a statement of facts published by the FBI.
The FBI arrested Campanella June 9 this year.
The FBI initially charged Campanella with entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds and violent entry and disorderly conduct on capitol grounds. Prosecutors dropped these two misdemeanor charges from the plea agreement.
Campanella could face a maximum sentence of a year in prison, ten years of probation and a $10,000 fine.
