The polls closed at 8 p.m. for primary election day in Western Pennsylvania.
The biggest race in the area was for Pittsburgh mayor with the Democrat and Republican primaries being competitive.

Bethel Park
An incumbent member of Bethel Park Council lost his seat in Ward 1, according to unofficial Allegheny County primary election results.
Bridgeville
Primary election results narrowed down the Chartiers Valley School Board race from nine candidates to six.

Two members have been selected from three Democrat candidates to run for Penn Hills Council in November. According to unofficial election results from the Allegheny County Office of Elections, newcomers Kimberly “Kim” Refosco, 45, and Ian Cartwright, 47, will be in the competition for two four-year term seats.
Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh voters on Tuesday supported a series of ballot referendums that will determine whether the city can discriminate in its business dealings, prohibit the use of the Home Rule Charter amendment process to add rules that conflict with federal or state laws, and bar the city from selling or leasing its water and sewer systems to private entities.

Shaler Area School District to see contested races for 3 school board seats
Shaler Area School District voters will see contested November elections in two of the district’s three regions, with at least three new members likely to join the nine-member board, according to unofficial Allegheny County election results.
Verona

Highlands voters will choose between 3 for 2 available seats in Region 2; other races decided
Nominees for Highlands School Board were solidified Tuesday, with two incumbents and three newcomers on the November ballot. There are four seats up for election.
Leechburg
Leechburg Area School Board results: Lovelace, Stewart, Brady and Reinke win both party noms
It appears that two incumbents will be joined by two former school directors on Leechburg Area School Board in December.

David Stoltz and Carley Logan appeared to be the top two vote-getters in a three-person race for the Republican nomination for seats on Lower Burrell Council.
New Kensington
Toney, DiCarolis win New Kensington Democratic council primary
Unofficial results from a three-person race for two Democratic Party nominations on New Kensington Council showed Phillip Toney and Nicholas DiCarolis coming out on top.
