Fox News anchor Bret Baier, a moderator, speaks before a Republican presidential primary debate at Fox Theatre, Thursday, March 3, 2016, in Detroit.

President Donald Trump complained about a recent poll done by Fox News that showed him falling behind several Democratic candidates for president and said that something was going on at the network.

Anchor Bret Baier responded to the statements, explained the network’s polling, and invited the president to join him on his show, “Special Report.”

Trump speaking to reporters in New Jersey on Sunday said, “Fox is a lot different than it used to be, I can tell you that. … Fox has changed. My worst polls have always been from Fox. There’s something going on at Fox, I’ll tell you right now. And I’m not happy with it.”

Baier responded Monday night on his show, “Well, Fox has not changed, we have a news side and an opinion side. Opinion folks express their opinions. We do polls.

“Our latest poll had the Democratic candidates head-to-head, several of them ahead of President Trump. And this poll tracks exactly, what the Real Clear Politics average of polls,” he continued. “This poll matches what we’re seeing out there.”

Baier then invited Trump to come on his show.

“Mr. President, we’ve invited you on ‘Special Report’ many times. We’d love to have you back on. You’ve talked to George Stephanopoulos and Chuck Todd. Come on back. Me, Chris Wallace, the news side cover it fair, balanced and unafraid.”
